Our Board of Directors

Melinda Cain
Board President
Melinda holds a Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of Denver. Melinda’s profile of corporate and academic experience in both the U.S. and internationally includes Vice President of the International Division of SIRVA Global Relocation Services; Director Strategic Planning, Qwest Telecommunications; Manager, Language Translation Services, Oracle Software; and adjunct professor positions at the University of Denver and Troy State University.

Norm Mueller
Board Treasurer
Norm Mueller has been licensed to practice law in Colorado since 1974. He works for Haddon, Morgan & Foreman P.C., and specializes in trials and appeals in the state and federal courts. He has served on the Colorado Supreme Court Committee on Appellate Rules since 1986. He previously served on the Supreme Court Committee on Criminal Rules and on the Colorado Lawyer Board of Editors. He is a member and past president of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and currently serves on its Amicus Committee. 

Travis Ning
Board Secretary
Travis holds an M.A. in international administration from the University of Denver. He was a Peace Corps fellow in Paraguay from 2000 to 2002 and in East Timor from 2002 to 2003. Travis is the Executive Director for Colorado nonprofit Starfish One by One.

Luis Alberto Aziz
Board Member
Luis Alberto is a founding member of Aklara and a legal assessor for the NAFTA Fund. He is also a board member of the Road 9, Inc., the editorial group Armonia, and is president of the board for Baskin Robbins Mexico. As part of his pro-bono work, Luis Alberto is Vice President for the JUCONI Board (TWC’s affiliate in Mexico).

Joanna Serra
Board Member
Jo Serra is a former British diplomat who was stationed in Mexico. She is part of the National Coaching Federation and is a personal coach. She obtained a B.A. in French and Economics from Redding University. Jo is a board member of ABC Hospital Mexico City.

William Pearce
Board Member
William has an MSW in Social Administration from the University of Maryland. He ran a wholesale distribution business in the sign industry for 15 years  and has an extensive background in both non profit and business consulting. William has run development departments and raised money for a number of great causes including The Hunger Project, The League for People with disabilities, Maryland Holmes for the Disabled, and The Maryland School for the Blind. 

Oscar Escalada Hernández
Board Member
Oscar graduated from the National School of Teachers for Training in Industrial Work as well as the Professional Institute at the YMCA. He was a secondary school teacher for 19 years and has studied street children in Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico. He has worked with the YMCA for 35 years in roles such as Founder and General Secretary of the YMCA Baja California, Founder and General Director of the YMCA Homes for Minor Migrants, and Member of the Senior Staff at the World Alliance of YMCAs.
